This is the other thing i look at for 10-12 hours a day! a 19" flat screen monitor displaying the tracks i'm recording. if you look closely you can see how a recording works. each line (horizontal) represent a microphone - these lines represent drum microphones (kik in, kik tunnel, snare top) the squigly red lines represent a prerecorded track of the band performing the song as a reference to the new recording. confused? this is called a prepro track - a few days at the beggining of each project i sit with the band and we do whats called preproduction - i listen to the songs and make structural changes (nixing choruses, adding shots, things of musical interest) and then we record the new way in a rough recording so that when we do the recording for good (pictured) we don't forget those ideas from the first few days.
